STEPHANIE LOWE Born: 1959, Tarrytown, New York. Stephanie Lowe was working as a freelance writer in Orlando when she first encountered clay. Never looking back, she entered the University of Central Florida and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts there in 2000. Lowe makes her sculpture by hand-building in clay which is then finished with clay slips or glazes. She has continued her education with ceramic workshops presented by artists like Debra Fritts and painting workshops with figurative painter Carla O'Connor. Recently relocated to Southern California from Florida, Lowe is currently exploring high temperature atmospheres for her figures in her LA studio. Recent press: January/February 06.
